And then there’s the legendary Glyph of Apollo, Lance Reddick as Chiron. Oh, Lance. Rest in peace. What a phenomenal actor. And he was perfect as Chiron. He brought this regal presence, this quiet wisdom, this sense of ancient authority. You just knew he was the wise centaur, the mentor figure. He had that gravitas that few actors possess.

Chiron is supposed to be this wise old teacher, and Lance Reddick? He was born for that role. He had that perfect booming voice, that commanding presence, and yet, he could also convey such kindness and concern. When he spoke, you listened. You felt the weight of his words. He brought such a sense of history and mythology to the character. It’s so heartbreaking that we won’t see him in more episodes. He was truly a gift to the show. We will miss him dearly.

And let’s not forget Alexandra Daddario, no wait, that’s the movie! Wrong universe! I mean Lin Manuel Miranda as Hermes. Yes, Lin Manuel Miranda. From Hamilton! Talk about a casting surprise! And then there’s the queen of the sea herself, Poseidon’s Daughter, Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano. Okay, hear me out. Gabe is supposed to be the worst. Like, truly, truly awful. And Timm Sharp? He makes you believe it. He’s so perfectly repellent. You just want to fast-forward through his scenes, but you also can’t look away because he’s so… committed to being terrible.

He’s the embodiment of everything Percy hates. The stench, the gambling, the general grossness. And Timm Sharp just dives headfirst into it. It’s not an easy role to play, being that unlikable, but he does it with such gusto. You have to respect that dedication. He’s the necessary evil, the catalyst for so much of Percy’s pain and growth. And honestly, it's impressive to be that good at being that bad. He really makes you feel the struggle. Pure evil, but in a totally binge-worthy way. Shudders.

And the supporting cast! Don’t even get me started on all the other gods and monsters and mortals who pop up. Every single one of them is so well-chosen. Megan Mullally as Alecto? Terrifying. Georffrey Rickard as Hephaestus? So unexpectedly delightful. Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa? Oh my gosh, stunning and creepy all at once. They all just add so much richness to the world.

It’s like they took the casting director’s notes and said, “Okay, how can we make this even better?” And they did. They found actors who not only look the part but embody the characters. They bring their own unique flair, their own interpretations, while still staying true to the spirit of the books. It’s a delicate balance, and they absolutely nailed it.
