Turns out, all those fairy tale characters? They’re real. And they’re stuck. Cursed by the Evil Queen. Their memories wiped clean. And Emma is the only one who can break it.

The premise is pretty wild, right? But it’s also kind of brilliant. It’s like taking all your childhood bedtime stories and smashing them together with a good dose of drama.

And the casting! They were so good. Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen and Regina Mills? Phenomenal. She could be terrifying one minute and heartbreaking the next. You almost rooted for her. Almost.

Then there’s Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White and Josh Dallas as Prince Charming. They were the ultimate fairy tale couple. Pure and simple. Sometimes a little too pure, but we’ll get to that.

And let's not forget the king of all fairy tale characters: Rumpelstiltskin. Robert Carlyle was a genius. He made a character who was supposedly evil so incredibly complex and compelling. You never knew if you loved him or hated him.

The first few seasons? Pure gold. They really nailed the fairy tale magic. The costumes were amazing. The storylines were engaging. You were hooked.

You'd get invested in Belle and Rumpelstiltskin's tumultuous relationship. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion, but you couldn't look away.

And Captain Hook! Oh, Captain Hook. Colin O'Donoghue made him so suave and roguish. He added a whole new level of charm. And that accent! Swoon.

But, as with many shows, things got… complicated. The writers started throwing in all the fairy tales. And then some. Suddenly, we had characters from every story imaginable.

It was like a giant fairy tale potluck. Everyone brought something to the table. And sometimes, those dishes didn't quite go together.

Remember the time they introduced that whole Oz arc? Or the characters from Camelot? It was a lot. A lot a lot.

And the sheer number of times Emma had to save everyone. It became a bit of a running gag. Like, can someone else please do the saving for a change?

There were moments, for sure, where you’d think, "Okay, this is getting a little ridiculous." Like when they kept bringing back dead characters. Again. And again.

It’s the nature of these shows, I guess. Once you open the door to magic, it’s hard to close it. And the writers kept finding new doors.

But here's my unpopular opinion: I still loved it. Even the ridiculous parts.

There was something so comforting about returning to Storybrooke. And seeing these beloved characters in a new light. A more complicated light, perhaps.

It’s the ultimate “guilty pleasure” show. You might feel a little silly admitting you watch it. But you can’t deny the entertainment value.

Think about it. They took stories we’ve known forever and gave them a modern twist. With more angst. And more curses. And more betrayal.

And the way they handled the different realms? It was ambitious. Even if it sometimes felt like they were juggling too many balls in the air.

You had the classic pairings, like Snow and Charming, whose love was apparently strong enough to defy all curses. Seriously, their DNA must have been made of pure magic.

And then you had the darker, more complex relationships. Like the constant push and pull between Emma and Hook. Their banter was everything.

Let’s be honest, the “true love’s kiss” trope was milked to death. But it was also the foundation of so much of the show. And it did work, a lot of the time.

My favorite "unpopular" moments probably involve Rumpelstiltskin. His motivations were always so tangled. You never quite knew where he stood.

And when he showed glimpses of his true, softer self? Those were the moments that made you remember why you were watching.

It was never just about good versus evil. It was about the shades of gray. The choices characters made. And the consequences.

Even when the plot lines got a bit convoluted, there was always an underlying heart to the show. A belief in the power of love and family.

And the villains? They were so good at making you hate them. And then, sometimes, feel a little bit sorry for them. Like Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West. She was a riot.

Okay, maybe some of the later seasons got a little… experimental. The whole Neverland storyline felt a bit drawn out. And the curses kept multiplying like rabbits.

But even then, there were still gems. Little moments of magic that reminded you why you fell in love with the show in the first place.

It’s the kind of show you can put on in the background while you’re doing other things. But then, suddenly, you’re leaning in, captivated by a dragon fight or a dramatic revelation.

And the music! The score was so epic. It really set the mood for all the magical mayhem.

So, yeah. Once Upon a Time. It might not be critically acclaimed. It might be a little bit bonkers. But it’s also incredibly fun.

It’s a reminder that even in the most ordinary of towns, extraordinary things can happen. And that sometimes, the most powerful magic of all is just a good story.

So, if you’re looking for something to binge that’s got a little bit of everything – romance, adventure, magic, and a whole lot of questionable decisions – give Once Upon a Time a shot. You might just find yourself falling under its spell too.
