Perhaps a stout individual in the frosty outskirts of a settlement, looking for "rare pelts" (which, coincidentally, might be the fur from that very large, very angry wolf you "encountered"). One of my personal favourites is in the vibrant, sometimes chaotic, city of Vivec City in Morrowind. The sheer number of people, the constant hustle and bustle, it’s the perfect cover! But offer him a "misplaced" noble’s signet ring, and suddenly his eyes will light up, and he’ll be very interested in your "found" items. It's almost theatrical, and I love it!
Remember, these Fences aren't just nameless NPCs. They have personalities, they have little quirks, and sometimes, they’ll even have a bit of banter for you.
